Phodniche waran is Very tasty dal, very easy to prepare and also low in calories. Goes well with rice, rotis, puris,Bhakri.Its Maharatrian Femous meal dish.
Ingredients:
For Cooking Dal Needs :
1 3/4 cup water
1/2 Tbsp turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon hing ( asafoetida )
1/2 Cooking oil
For Seasoning:
2 Tbsp Oil
1 Tbsp mustard seeds
1/2 Tbsp crushed cumin seeds ( jeera )
1/2 Tbsp turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon hing ( asafoetida )
1 spring curry leaves
1 onion finely chopped
1 Tomato finely chopped
1/2 Tbsp Ginger
1/2 Tbsp Gralic
3 green chillies slits
salt to Taste
2 tbsp fresh coriander leaves
Method :
1) Wash and cook dal in a pressure cooker with 1/4 teaspoon cooking oil and turmeric powder until soft.do 3-4 wistelAllow the cooker to cool naturally.
2) Open the lid.Blend the cooked dal well and check consistency.
3)Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds. When they start crackle, add cumin seeds ( jeera ), asafoetida,turmeric powder ,curry leaves,green chillies slits
onion finely chopped ,fry still onion change colour pink, then add Tomato finely chopped. Fry for 5 minutes on a low heat till fragrant.
4) Add Cooked all over this this seasoning .
5) Add Salt as per Taste.
6) Mix well and boil nicely.
